Nikon Control Beta 2b

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

This is again just a minor update to the beta 2 and still does not contain the announced missing feature requests. Instead it contains support for Nikon D200, D80, D60, D40x and D40.

There is also one small improvement. When you have autofocus on, Nikon Control will present you an error dialog if the camera was not able to focus. There will be also be an error dialog if there was another error while trying to capture.

The new version is also available as download (if you haven’t installed Nikon Control yet or still using beta 1) and via auto update.

Please keep posting feedback and feature requests. If you would like to get a personal reply please don’t post a comment but send me an email.

Nikon Control is now called Sofortbild. Please visit the new website http://www.sofortbildapp.com/ to download the app.

Looking for D40, D40x, D60, D80 and D200 Testers

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Yesterday I added support for Nikon D40, D40x, D60, D80 and D200. I am now looking for some users to test Nikon Control with that models. Please let me know if you have on of these cameras and are willing to do a full feature test. Since I don’t have one of those models I can’t say if it really works. Please write me an email (don’t post a comment).

Nikon Control Beta 2a

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

This is just a minor update to the beta 2 and does not contain the announced missing feature requests. Instead it contains support for the Nikon D3x. (There have already been some professional photo shootings with the new version.)

I had to rewrite some stuff for using different camera drivers. But I did it in a way so that I can add all remaining models easily. So in the next version there should be support for all Nikon DSLR models.

The second new feature is Apple Remote support. If you have one you can use it’s play button to trigger the capture button, which might be quite handy if you don’t have a remote trigger already. I’m thinking about adding more buttons for other functions.

DCamCapture: Nikon Control for Windows

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

There have been a lot of requests for a Windows version of Nikon Control although I said that I unfortunately don’t have time to do one myself. For those of you there is something that might be interesting for you: Bernd Peretzke has written a similiar application for Windows XP and Vista called DCamCapture. Bernd is using the Nikon SDK as well, his application has a similar feature set and it is also free. So if you are a Windows user you should definitely check out his app.

Nikon Control Beta 2

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

Nikon Control Beta 2 is available for download. The new version still needs Mac OS X 10.5.0 or later and works with Nikon D3, D700, D300 and D90. I actually wanted to make this version available for Mac OS X 10.4 as well but the new features required more API from 10.5 so I was not able to support 10.4. Sorry if you still use Tiger.
