Nikon SDK Wiki

I was already asked by someone if I could do a Windows version of the Nikon Capture application. I already don’t have so much time for private projects, so programming this application for Windows as well means less time for the Mac version. I also don’t use Windows at home. Sorry Windows users. But I would like to setup a wiki for the Nikon SDK.

Since there is no support from Nikon for the SDK and the documentation is mainly just a list of functions and properties (and of cause a detailed description of USB commands that you usually don’t want to deal with) I think an inofficial documentation in form of a wiki would be helpfull for any Mac or Windows developer who want’s to write an application using the Nikon SDK.

So anyone interested in joining me, please send me a small note.

  1. Max,

    Stefan,

Great work! Are you planning to commercialize the software? If not, would you be interested in releasing the software’s source code?

btw, I blogged this at my website: http://dptnt.com/2009/02/free-nikon-dslr-tethering-application-for-mac/

    Thanks.

  2. Ramon,

    Hi Stefan!

I was working with computer vision and cameras (c mount) for private projects. I left my job some days ago ;) and I want to spent some time exploring DSLR cameras.

I have a D90 and a Mac too and I’m interested in the wiki. I’m begining with the sdk but it could be a good starting point. When I have my first program running I could install a mediawiki at my server and post the source..

  3. Anthony Wyatt,

I would be quite interested in a wiki that talks about the nikon sdk. I have not developed in C before so its a bit difficult for me to read. I have a few ideas that I want to implement but am not quite sure were to start. I would be more than willing to help with what I can.

  4. serena,

I’m currently trying to develop a simple program for my D5000, but I can’t quite get through the code.
So I’d be very interested in a wiki, to get a few tips and pointers.
Nikon’s documentation is rather cryptic for me… :S
