iPhone Camera Issues
I get a lot of negative feedback concerning the bad quality of the iPhone camera. Unfortunately there is no auto- or manualfocus that we could use. I already had to cancel a really cool OCR application because of that. I’ve talked to some iPhone engineers during the WWDC about this topic. They first claimed that everything is fine. As I mentioned the fact that we would like to take sharp pictures of really small objects like text or barcodes, they said they will note that as a feature request. So please don’t complain here or in the App Store about this issue but address Apple.
Besides that I think I found a good solution for the Barcode app that compensates the lack of a autofocus a bit, so you will be hopefully able to decode more barcodes, even if they are tiny.

Very interesting concept in your bar decoding-encoding app. I will appreciate very much if you can send me an e.mail with a barcode print that has been tested by you (that works with your app), because it has been impossible for me to read any code, and i’m not sure if i’m doing something wrong.
Thanks

Just try the generator at kaywa.com and make a photo of the code from your monitor. cheers, tak
I did managed to get my iPhone (EDGE) running 2.0 and your Application to work in recognising a datamatrix barcode. I found that trying to move the camera too close to the object so as to get the barcode to fill the picture was counterproductive, it was better to keep the iPhone several inches from the image even if it was a smaller picture so as to ensure a sharper image.
Is there any likelihood of adding support to recognise ordinary IBN (aka. ISBN) product codes as used on books?
